interesting history of grants military career
Good read. Makes a man in history more human than just a figure from the past. Well written by the man himself.
If you are at all interested in the Civil War, you find this book interesting. The character of Grant comes alive in vivid detail. A great read.

Grant was a great writer who had a front row seat for much of the war. He wrote this in the last years of his life, obviously using his war records and letters to reconstruct the book.
