This is just perfect. Nice and large....heavy paper. Good for use in the classroom. I have mine up and ready to tag with all the wonderful places we are reading about!
The print is awesome and the material feels nice, albeit I expected it to be a bit thicker. The description says this is made to be resilient to damage and tear, not too sure if that's actually the case.
Anyway, getting it framed this week, still undecided whether to use glass or not!
PS The packing was way too large compared to the actual size of the tube. For those who are shipping this further will do well to remove the overwhelming packaging.
Purchased this map along with the USA Wall Map and like the USA map, it is detailed and the colors are vivid. Even with its size, some things are a bit hard to find but I am looking forward to showing my 5 year old where in teh world the places that we hear about on NPR are located in relation to where we live. A great map for less than $6. I also bought the corresponding world map. I bought a huge foam board and glued the USA map on one side and the world map on the other side. Perfect. The foam board cost more than the 2 maps.
This is a very nice world map. It seems to always be out of stock, but if you order it you will usually see that it ships a week later. The only complaint is that the paper is very thin and it tends to crease as you are hanging the map.
A good map for basic uses but a couple notes; first, it came in a thin plastic sheath so unfortunately it already had creases in it were it had been smashed slightly. Also, it doesn't have the thin laminate on it that gives it the smooth finish. I didn't realize that "paper" meant it didn't have the finish so that was my own fault. I was going to have it mounted on foam board but because of the lesser quality I decided to buy a nicer map to mount.
I'm very pleased with this map. It came rolled up, in an box. It was in perfect condition and I just draped it over my ironing board to let it unfurl all the way. Once it was ready I used painter's tape (my favorite for avoiding holes in my wall) to hang it and it looks great!
For my purposes this map was a good choice. Right balance of cost and quality. I'm using on a bulletin board in my office to mark places I've been. I wanted something about 50% bigger than this and compromised because I couldn't find as big as I wanted and there was a big cost bump just to go a little bigger. Turns out that any bigger and it wouldn't look good in my office.
Also turns out there is a LOT of world I haven't been to yet.
I didn't laminate (as some other reviewers mentioned). I have it on a HUGE bulletin board, unframed. It's been a couple of months and it looks good.
I was a little skeptical ordering this map since it's so cheap compared to others this size, but it's a very nice map. I'm using it to make my own travel dream board/map and this is large enough to be able to put more than one pin in even a small country like Switzerland. The paper is thin and it would be nice if it was laminated, but it's very detailed, the text is clear and many cities are labeled. The map area itself is 47 1/4 x 29 3/8 since there is a border around the map then extra white space around that to get to the 50x32 size. I would definitely order this again for only $5.95!!
